Announcing Voice Donations
Myositis Support and Understanding (MSU) is making it easier than ever, with help from Amazon, to make a donation!
Alexa and Amazon Pay make it easy to donate to MSU using just your voice. Giving is now as easy as saying “Alexa, make a donation to Myositis Support and Understanding Association.” Alexa will ask how much you want to donate and your donation is processed with Amazon Pay using the information already stored in your Amazon account.
Amazon launched their Alexa Donate program for charities and Myositis Support and Understanding Association just became one of the 83 charities accepting donations through their program.
Amazon’s voice donation is part of the various tools MSU employs to make donating quick and accessible.
Other ways to give include using the PayPal Giving Fund, Facebook fundraisers, text to donate (text myositis to 707070) and traditional methods like credit card and check donations.
Accessibility
Voice donations make giving accessible. Those living with the idiopathic inflammatory myopathies may experience weakness in their arm and hand muscles, which may cause them difficulty with typing, grasping, or holding items like a smartphone.
This is particularly true for those with inclusion body myositis, which causes weakness in the distal muscles, those furthest from the body’s core.

Effortless Ways to Help
MSU has joined several programs to help you give through shopping. When you shop using the sites listed, retailers donate a portion of the sale back to MSU. Furthermore, there is no added cost to you.
Some programs you can use to help MSU include Amazon Smile, iGive, and Goodshop. (See other Effortless Ways to Give)
Your donation to MSU goes a long way. We are an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with little overhead so a vast majority goes directly back to myositis patients and needed programs.
Other more complex donation options include planned giving, IRA charitable rollovers, and employer gift matching.
What is your favorite way to donate to MSU? And, what are other ways we can make it easier for you?
