Watch Party - 3rd Annual Myositis Empower Walk
Join us, your myositis family, for the 3rd Annual Myositis Empower Walk Watch Party!
We will be watching together via Zoom the 3rd Annual Myositis Empower Walk that took place at Discovery Park in Henderson, NV, on Saturday, October 2, 2021. While screening, we will all be able to speak with each other via Zoom or Chat as the event is happening! And for this event, we can invite our family and friends to watch along with us from their computers, which always makes events more fun, even when we are all watching virtually.
This is so much more than watching people walk. You will see and hear from attendees in our Myositis community, including Stella Clapp’s family as we honor her life during this walk. We will hear inspiring and compassionate words from Jenna and Lauren Landman, creators of the Myositis Empower Walk, and their mom, Gladys Landman. You will also hear from some of MSU’s volunteers and board members, and many others. Along the walk with host Shelby De Jesus, we will get to see all the posters, sidewalk art, rock paintings, ribbons tied to the tree planted in honor of Bob Landman, and hear shout-outs from those who attended on Facebook.
We will hear from 2020 Olympian Tri Bourne and his wife, actress Gabby Bourne speak about their struggle and subsequent comeback with dermatomyositis (DM) and the gratitude they have for our organization, Myositis Support and Understanding. Tri was diagnosed with DM in 2017. Tri’s wife, Gabby Bourne, is an actress and producer known for Animal Kingdom (2016), Pitch (2016), and The Hatred (2017).
We will also learn more about our sponsors, including Indeelift, which now provides the HFL-400-FTS, an assistive lift device now lifting to 30”, standing height, and Corbus Pharmaceuticals, a long-time sponsor of MSU and first-time sponsor of the Myositis Empower Walk.

In addition to raising awareness, the goal the Landman’s set for the 2021 Empower Walk is to raise $25,000. We are just shy by $2,000 needed to meet this target! Money raised goes further at MSU since we are an all-volunteer, virtual organization. Your contribution funds our patient-centered research, support program costs, and our financial assistance program which assists people with Myositis to enhance their quality of life. Assistance is available to help cover costs of expensive adaptive and assistive devices and equipment, helping with medical bills and emergency household expenses, including rental assistance when employment is interrupted for treatments/hospitalizations. MSU is an all-volunteer, patient-centered and patient-led 501 (c) (3) dedicated to raising awareness and improving the lives of ALL impacted by myositis.
Every donation made, no matter the amount, impacts the lives of real myositis patients, and there are many ways to contribute! Whether it’s $5 or more, you can make a one-time or monthly contribution, dedicate it in memory or in honor of someone you care about, or contribute to an existing Empower Walk Team or Personal Fundraiser. All funds directly support MSU.
