Learn more about Suzanne’s personal experience with severe dysphagia (trouble swallowing) during her myositis journey. Suzanne brings a different perspective to this difficult and dangerous symptom that spans the different types of myositis. Not only is she is a patient, but she is also a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), an often turned to specialty to help patients with dysphagia.
Meet Suzanne Belmonte
Suzanne is a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) from Long Island, NY, and is married with two sons. She was diagnosed with dermatomyositis in September 2017, after being diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in April of 2017. She currently is on disability but hoping to return to work someday.
In addition to volunteering for MSU, Suzanne enjoys reading, painting, and photography.
