Help Advoc8 and Educ8

MSU is operated by volunteers who have been personally touched by Myositis.

The organization was created because our experiences – from facilitating online support groups for over 6 years – were that patients, caregivers, friends, co-workers, and medical professionals need:

  • Easy to understand, usable information
  • Sharing of personal experiences
  • Support platforms and networks
  • Understanding about the far-reaching impacts of the disease
  • Education about the treatments and complications
  • A multitude of tools to navigate the journey

What we have accomplished thus far, with volunteered time, passion and enthusiasm, is impressive. We are making a difference. But we want to make a bigger difference, and the organization needs your help in carrying out the goals we have set through our Mission and Vision statements. There are many ways to help.

Volunteer your time

Do you have any time to spare or skills that might be helpful to the organization?

  • Writing
  • Research (for writing, not lab research)
  • Financial background, CPA
  • Marketing
  • Planning
  • Fundraising ideas and contacts
  • Digging up sponsors and advertisers, etc.

There are also volunteer Board of Director positions available with a time commitment of at least 15 hours per month.

Launch a Fundraiser

Money for nonprofits can be raised in hundreds of creative ways. Can you think of a product that people would purchase? Host a house party? Sporting or entertainment event to stage? Can you involve your family, friends, co-workers, and church members to help organize and support an event which can not only raise funds for MSU, but would also provide an opportunity to teach people more about Myositis and how it impacts those who have it?

MSU will promote your fundraising event though a variety of channels to ensure you succeed!

Share Your Myositis Story

Myositis is rare, complicated, and misunderstood. Through our efforts with our support groups, we have learned that the best type of education and support comes from personal experiences of those who have been touched by the disease.

MSU provides a platform for you to share your story, whether you are a patient or a caregiver. Tell us how it has impacted your life, what you’ve learned, how you have coped, and your best advice based on your experiences.

Donate to Our Nonprofit

MSU is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit which has ongoing needs for financial support to carry out its programs. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation or set up a schedule of donations (every two weeks, monthly, or yearly) to help us carry out our programs.   While we are operated by volunteers, there is a huge need for financial backing.

Effortlessly Make a Difference

Do you know that many popular stores donate a portion of your online purchases to nonprofit organizations without any charge to you? Do you know that you can get coupons for stores that will make donations to MSU based on your purchases? Do you know that MSU can earn money each time you perform a web search?

It’s as easy as a one-time registration with each of these generous sites and selecting Myositis Support and Understanding as your nonprofit of choice.

Purchase your Myositis Gear from the MSU online shop

A good way to let people know that you support Myositis-related causes and to help create awareness of the disease is to use or wear items that mention the disease. Who knows, you may open the door to people who are curious and have the opportunity to tell them about how Myositis impacts your life.

Participate in Social Networking

We live in an age where it’s easy to reach a lot of people about a thought, opinion, cause, or concern. MSU is active on many social networks, posting important Myositis-related information which can then be used to spread the word quickly and efficiently. We post on social networks and you can help by sharing our content, commenting, and ‘liking.’
